I am a postdoc at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, collaborating with Heng Ji. I received my Ph.D. in computer science at the University of California Los Angeles, where I worked with Kai-Wei Chang and Nanyun Peng. My research interests focus on natural language processing and machine learning. I specialize in developing trustworthy and generalizable language AI systems that are robust to variations in text structure and adaptable to new domains and languages. Some of the research directions I am currently working on include:

  • Knowledge Extraction and Generalization: Extracting structured information and human concepts from texts and generalizing to new domains.
  • Knowledge Transfer across Languages: Enhancing the cross-lingual understanding ablity by leveraging auxiliary information or self-distillation techniques.
  • Robust Language Understanding: Developing models capable of capturing accurate semantic meaning under variations in text structure.
  • Multimodal Understanding and Alignment: Aligning human conepts across textual and visual space and improving cross-modal understanding.

I will be joining the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University as a tenure-track assistant professor in Fall 2024. I am actively looking for motivated students to join my group. If you are interested in knowledge extraction, large language models, multilingual NLP, or multimodal learning, please fill out this form.
